Hazbin Hotel's Creator Is Aware of Fans' Second Season Bingo Cards — And She Has Good News
The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been rampant.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a couple people create a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
