The United Kingdom is ready to advance with using the entire amount of immobilized Russian assets to aid Ukraine's defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the heads of state of the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this unified step would escalate tension on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to participate in talks.

They added that the decision would be executed in tight collaboration with the United States.

British penalties have immobilized over £25bn of Russian funds since Russia launched its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, previously, funds sent to the Ukrainian government using Russia's assets had only been sourced from profits and interest generated on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their aim to drive progress toward employing the complete amount of the immobilized Russia's state holdings to halt hostilities.

He stated that further restrictions soon would increase the strain on Moscow.

This declaration follows EU representatives convened in the Danish capital recently to discuss utilizing immobilized Russian holdings for a €140 billion loan to Ukraine.

Last month, US President Donald Trump called on G7 allies to take or otherwise use seized Russia's holdings, as reported by reports.

The value of immobilized Russia's assets in the EU is estimated to be almost €211bn.

Two people were lost their lives and a minimum of 20 people were wounded in the assault, the Ukrainian government reported.

In a post on social media after the incident, Zelensky commented that the cynical and calculated attack targeted public and utility structures.

"The necessity is not empty words but firm measures - from the US, the European Union, and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," he stated.

"All penalty impositions weakens Russia's war machine," Zelensky declared, in a different message.

In the same period, Zelensky told the press he would press Sir Keir to join the PURL scheme, under which alliance members buy weapons from the US to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the United Kingdom's firm backing for the Ukrainian government, he said it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the system, as well as impose additional sanctions on the Russian Federation.
